What you get
- Your work inbox on the car’s screen, alongside any personal or other business accounts, in one unified inbox.
- New mail in near real time. Microsoft tells Turnmail the moment a message lands, and a pop-up shows the sender and subject.
- Drive Mode reads your unread email aloud: who each email is from, when it arrived, the subject and how it starts.
- Reply, reply all and forward when you’re parked, sent from your own Microsoft 365 mailbox.
- Open attachments (PDFs, Word, Excel, images) on the screen, with nothing downloaded to the car.
Connecting your account
- Open turnmail.com in your Tesla’s browser and start your free trial (or sign in).
- Go to Email Accounts → Connect New Account → Connect Microsoft 365.
- Sign in with your work account on Microsoft’s page and accept the permissions.
That’s it for most people. If Microsoft shows “Admin approval required”, see below.
For IT administrators
Turnmail is a multi-tenant Microsoft Entra app using delegated permissions and OAuth 2.0. Users never give Turnmail their password, and you can revoke access centrally at any time from Enterprise applications.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
openid, profile, email, User.Read | Sign-in and the user’s name and address |
offline_access | Stay connected without repeated sign-ins |
Mail.ReadWrite | Read the mailbox; keep read and flagged status in sync |
Mail.Send | Send the replies the user writes |
Turnmail has no feature that deletes or moves mail. Message content is encrypted at rest with AES-256, stored mail is deleted after 60 days, and new devices must be confirmed with a sign-in code. Read the security overview and the step-by-step admin approval guide.
Why not Outlook in the Tesla browser?
You can open Outlook on the web in the car, but it’s the desktop layout on a touchscreen, one account at a time, with no alerts unless the tab is open and nothing read aloud. Full comparison.
