Grok and Outlook vs Turnmail

Since September 2026, Grok in your Tesla can connect to your email and answer questions about it by voice. It's a useful assistant if your car has an AMD Ryzen processor. Turnmail is different: an on-screen inbox for all your accounts that works on every Tesla, Intel or AMD, with new mail popping up and Drive Mode reading it aloud. Many people will use both.

What Grok does well

Grok is a conversational assistant. Once you’ve linked a mail connector you can ask things like “Has the bank emailed me today?” or “Summarise my unread mail”, and it answers out loud. For quick questions on the move, that’s a natural fit, and if you already use Grok it costs nothing extra to connect email.

Where Turnmail is different

It works on every Tesla. Grok needs the AMD Ryzen computer found in newer cars. Turnmail runs in the browser, so it works on Intel Atom Teslas too: older Model S, 3, X and Y.

Your inbox, on the screen. Grok answers questions; Turnmail shows you your email. When you’re parked or charging you can scroll your unified inbox, open messages and attachments, and reply.

All your accounts together. Connect as many Outlook, Microsoft 365, Gmail and IMAP accounts as you like and read them in one list, each colour-coded.

You see new mail arrive. A pop-up shows the sender and subject as each email lands, without having to ask.

Predictable read-aloud. Drive Mode reads your unread email in order (who each email is from, when it arrived, the subject and how it starts), with no prompt-writing needed.

Which should you choose?

  • AMD car, mostly want voice answers, one main inbox? Grok’s connectors are a good start.
  • Intel car, several inboxes, IMAP, or you want to see your email on screen? Turnmail.
  • Both? That works. They don’t interfere with each other.
